1. Check the outer dimensions first
A King mattress measuring 76 × 80 inches does not mean the platform bed has the same outer dimensions. Visible platform edges increase the overall width and length, so measure the exact area where the bed will stand.
Account for closet doors, balcony doors, baseboard heaters and the walking path around the bed. With low platforms, the outer edge quickly becomes a critical everyday dimension.

2. Calculate the finished height realistically
Platform height alone says little about the final sitting height. Add the platform, support and mattress thickness. A 9-inch platform with a 10-inch mattress creates a top surface of about 19 inches, depending on how deeply the mattress sits.
Anyone accustomed to a higher sitting edge should not choose solely for an especially low look. Comfort is personal and should be compared with the sitting height you already find comfortable.
3. Consider the mattress and support together
Check the mattress manufacturer's support requirements. Some mattresses need specific spacing or flex characteristics. A platform bed may have an integrated slat structure, but it is not automatically suitable for every mattress.
4. Wood care: minimal but regular
Clean oiled wood with a dry or barely damp cloth and avoid standing moisture. Depending on use, the oiled finish may benefit from occasional renewal; follow the instructions for the selected care product.
5. Plan for delivery
